Hosting a BBQ at East Coast Park: The Ultimate Guide

Planning a BBQ at East Coast Park? Great choice! With the sea breeze, open spaces, and the smell of sizzling meats in the air, it’s a solid spot for a gathering. But if you’ve never hosted one there, you might be in for some surprises. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Here’s everything you need to know before firing up the grill.

East Coast Park BBQ Pit

1️⃣ Pick a BBQ Pit Close to the Car Park 🚗🔥

Most BBQ vendors, including Shiok BBQ, do not deliver food directly to the BBQ pit—not because we don’t want to, but because it’s unpredictable. Walking distances can vary from 5 to 20 minutes, and hauling kilos of food, charcoal, and drinks over long distances isn’t ideal.

🔹 What to do? When booking your pit, choose one near the car park. This way, food delivery and setup will be much easier. Ideally, gather 2-3 strong helpers to transport everything. Trust us, you don’t want to be making multiple trips!

2️⃣ Choose a Pit Near Water Points & Toilets 🚰🚻

You don’t realize how important this is until you need it. Some BBQ pits are too far from the nearest tap, which means washing up becomes a hassle.

🔹 Plan ahead: Check for pits close to toilets and water points so your guests aren’t walking 10 minutes just to wash their hands or rinse cooking utensils.

3️⃣ Keep Your Drinks Cold—Bring Ice & a Foam Box! 🧊🥤

Singapore’s heat is no joke. You don’t want to be stuck with warm soft drinks or beer. Buying from vending machines or restaurants nearby can be pricey, so stock up in advance.

🔹 Tip: Grab ice and a foam box to keep drinks chilled. You can also freeze some water bottles the night before—they’ll double up as ice packs and cold drinks later!

4️⃣ Is East Coast Park BBQ Pit Halal-Certified? 🕌🍢

This is a common but often overlooked question.

Nope, East Coast Park BBQ pits are NOT halal-certified. While we understand that many people want to avoid cross-contamination, the grills have been used by different groups for all kinds of meats.

🔹 What can you do?
✅ Bring your own wire mesh or disposable grill to cook halal food separately.
✅ If hosting Muslim guests, consider booking an extra BBQ pit just for halal items.

5️⃣ Shiok BBQ & Halal Disclaimer

We respect all religious dietary requirements, but Shiok BBQ is NOT a halal-certified business.

However, we can:
Separate your food during preparation.
Avoid cross-contamination as much as possible.
Advise on handling halal food at the BBQ site.

🔹 For religious events, we recommend booking a halal-certified caterer & venue to ensure proper food handling.

6️⃣ Wet Weather Plan ☔❌

Let’s be real. There’s no wet weather plan at East Coast Park. If it rains, you’re stuck.

🔹 What are your options?
Update us 8 hours in advance if you need to change the address—we’ll try to accommodate (small admin fee might apply).
✅ If it rains last minute, we can deliver cooked BBQ food to your home (additional delivery charges apply).

7️⃣ Consider a Sheltered BBQ Venue Instead 🏠🔥

If you don’t want to gamble with the weather, consider these alternatives:

HomeTeamNS BBQ Pits (Bedok / Bukit Batok / Khatib)
Chalets (CSC Loyang, NSRCC, Aloha Resorts, D'Resort Pasir Ris)
Private Venues with indoor-outdoor space
Condo BBQ pits (usually sheltered & come with function rooms)
SAFRA, Chevron, or other event spaces with built-in shelters

Final Thoughts—Plan Ahead & BBQ Like a Pro! 🚀

Hosting a BBQ at East Coast Park is a fantastic idea if you plan properly. The key things to remember:
Pick a pit near a car park & water point for convenience.
Bring extra ice & foam boxes for drinks.
Know that the pits aren’t halal-certified—prepare accordingly.
Have a wet weather backup plan to avoid disappointment.

If you want to take it up a notch, Shiok BBQ offers premium marinated meats, live seafood (yes, lobster!), and even chef services to make your BBQ stress-free.
